Gone From The Warp : Ron Hangs Up His Hat

It is with great sadness that I read today of Ron's decision to suspend indefinitely his From The Warp Blog Spot. Ron has been and will remain a giant amongst the 40k blogging community; it was his site that first lured me away from the forums, inspired me to join in with the community and start a blog of my own.

Most of you are probably aware of the news already and have heard it straight from Ron; but if not here is a link to his post explaining his reasons for calling it a day. 'FTW Being Placed into Stasis'

I understand his reasons fully, just running The Veil's Edge I've seen time that would have been spent painting or gaming diverted to keeping the blog up to date and working. I cannot imagine the effort it takes to run the Titanic entity that FTW has become.

Obviously the 40k blogging community will continue there are other great hubs such as HoP and BoLS that we subscribe; but I feel there will be a large hole left by FTW's departure that will not easily be filled.

There is some comfort in that Ron will still be around on his new more personal blog Black Dot Barrel Studios, devoted to his commission work; also that FTW will remain and as such its vast resources will still be open for the community to access. But it was still hard news to hear, FTW will be greatly missed by me and I'm sure most, if not all of you.

Thanks for the post, you didn't have to do that.

I appreciate all that everyone has contributed to FTW. Without you guys, the place wouldn't be half of what it was in the end.

I'm looking forward to sharing more of my own work and keeping up with you all in the coming months.

No worries Ron,I said what I wanted to say as I didn't have the room on your comments page, you know I do go on some ;)

As always, thanks for taking the time to drop by and reply. I'm sure despite your 'semi retirement' you'll still be an active member of the community and by the looks of your new blog followers list, there'll be plenty of us to keep you company.

:)

I definitely hope to be more involved with others blogs. More from the standpoint of a reader and not just looking at them to see if they are Top Ten material or if they should go into a Warp Report or anything like that.

Just another hobbyist looking to see what everyone else is doing.
