[mark: -2.13.00] : 6th Edition White Dwarf Pages

In the last 24 hours leaked pages from the upcoming issue of White Dwarf, detailing some of the contents of 40k's imminent 6th Edition release, have been circulating the Blogosphere.

As regular visitors to the Veil's Edge will know, I don't tend to feature much of the rumour mill, leaving that to other Blogs with far better connections than I (I got the heads up on this leak from Natfka's Faeit 212 Blog which is always on the ball); but as these are most certainly the genuine article, I thought them worth a repost for those that haven't seen them yet.

Also, a little time spent with Google Translate and I've got a 'rough' translation of some the Spanish pages (shown in italics), mores specifically in relation to the Psychic Cards. Looks like you now have the choice of using your codex specific Psychics or the Powers allowed to your particular army from the new decks.

Psychic Power Cards
Psychic cards make up a deck of 35 cards in large format with all the powers of the five psychic disciplines printed in the rules of Warhammer 40,000. They represent the six psychic powers of each discipline; they are the archetypal Primary Powers that exemplify the art of Biomancy, Pyromancy, Divination, Telekinesis and Telepathy.

These cards are perfect for keeping track of your powers that psychics have access during the game and are a very handy visual reminder of the effects after they have arisen. This deck of psychic powers is supplied in a plastic box that opens by turning the lower left corner. The set also comes with an instruction handbook of 4 pages which classifies that psychic disciplines can be used by many Psykers of the 41st Millennium (as Matt Ward explains in more detail on page 96).

Blood Angels Codex
Librarians of the Blood Angels (including Mephiston) will be able to use the psychic disciplines rules of Warhammer 40.000 instead of the ones in the Codex. If you choose to do this, create two new powers from the disciplines Biomancy, Divination, Telepathy or Telekinesis (any combination) before deploying armies.

Mat says: Blood Angels benefit greatly from access to Biomancy, it has a couple of blessings for melee (Iron Arm and warp speed) as well as some very nasty witch fires (Haemorrhage and ?) Perfect for the librarian who spends his days in battle.

Chaos Space Marine Codex
Any model with psychic powers may use the psychic disciplines rules of warhammer 40.000 instead of the Chaos Space Marine codex.

For every psychic power purchased in the Codex: Chaos Space Marines, generate a new power from the disciplines Pyromancy, Telekinesis or Telepathy before deploying armies. Characters can also generate their power from the different disciplines if you prefer, Typhus generates two new powers. Ahriman generates three new powers.

Mat says: This better approaches psychics for Chaos Space Marines who focus on psychic firepower (Piromancy and Telekinesis) or in psychological warfare (Telekinesis and Telepathy).

Quite surprised at the amount of armies that don't get to play with the new decks.

I really like the look of the new dice and vehicle markers; not sure about the tape measure, it may be a bit unwieldy for gaming and the templates look a bit cheap. The collector's edition rule book looks the business though, it appears GW have been taking wise note of Fantasy Flight Games and Forge Worlds excellent standards of publication.
